JIF calfburner starts 2018 cyclocross season

The cyclocross season in Wales got underway yesterday with our very own ‘calfburner’. After a supreme effort to set up the course on Saturday and some unexpected complications on the day, the race proved to be a great success with fast, enjoyable racing across the categories.

We’ve some thank you’s to make, not least of which goes to Luke Rowe for presenting the prizes and rewarding podium placed kids with Team SKY goodies. Thanks also to Welsh Cycling for their help with setup and equipment, Liz for her steady handling of commissaire duties and in particular our Cardiff JIF members who came out to help, support and marshal. Thanks all.

Action from the junior and senior men’s race.

Kieron Hastings, Tom Nesham and Sarah Marshall at the very busy crossing point.

Tomos Williams gives it all a great big thumbs up.

Slopes and bends are the order of the day.

World U23 Cyclocross champs Evie Richards sneaks in her last domestic race before World Cup action.

Senior men’s winner Steven James of Hope Factory Racing. Looking….happy 🙂
